The UFHDUganda chapter has started a micro lending project for woman farmers. The first year was a total success, fully funded from within the rural community. The UFHD central organization has decided to work to double the seed capital every successful year. To honor this commitment, we are opening up this fundraising page to share the project and keep those who are interested in the work updated.

  • In 2020 John Ssentamu found some information on the internet from the UFHD and knew immediately that Holistic Design was exactly the next step required to actuate the vision he carries for his rural community in Uganda. After starting his own school with a group of teachers to rectify the colonial education system imposed centuries ago, he wanted to expand to helping the community at large by restructuring the agricultural and economic systems. He reached out from rural Uganda to the UFHD to start learning about Holistic Design and the 80-20 system.

In Holistic Design every blueprint will be actuated differently according to the time, space and agents involved. John is a visionary and very quickly started to digest the blueprints and work out a starting point that made sense where they were at.

The idea is very simple yet profound in its ability to create the conditions necessary to build the 80-20 System. We lend money, seeds and or equipment out, and at the end of the season collect the original loan in cash or food, plus a percentage of seeds. These seeds will help build the seed bank portion of the 80-20 System. They will also be used as loans for farmers in the micro lending model. The food collected will at first be sold to market, once the quantity is sufficient, a cooperative store can be erected to help fund the project.
